Thai Sprint Wonderkid Quicker Than Gout Gout as Record Broken

Gout Gout has been tipped to become the next big star of athletics.

A Thai sprinting wonderkid recently clocked a 100m time that is quicker than teenage sensation Gout Gout.

Gout, 17, is one of the biggest talking points in the athletics world as he continues to impress on the international stage.

One of his biggest achievements to date includes breaking Usain Bolt's record to make him the fastest under-16 sprinter over 200 metres in athletics history.

Over 100m, Gout has a personal best of 10.17 and has clocked a best time of 20.02 over 200m.

Earlier in the year, Gout was present at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where he finished fourth in the 200m semi-finals.

While Gout continues to make waves in the sprinting world, Thai teenage sensation Puripol Boonson is also looking to make a name for himself.

Recently, the 19-year-old became the first Southeast Asian man to break the 10-second barrier as he ran 9.94 in the 100m heats at the 2025 SEA Games, held at the Suphachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Although already 19 years old, Boonson's time is quicker than Gout's personal best of 10.17.

Boonson went on to win gold in the final, with a time of 10 seconds dead.

Indonesia's Mohammed Lalu Zohri won silver and Malaysian 18-year-old Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee took home the bronze medal.

Speaking after his victory, Boonson said: "I'm very happy with myself to run under 10 seconds. I wasn't sure at first whether I could do it, but I showed that I can do it. My goal is to improve on my record time after time. I want to break my personal best again.

"Now my goal for this SEA Games is to get more gold medals for my country. I have to prepare for the next events, the 200m and the 4x100m relay, and I want to do my best."

Boonson's coach and former US national 200m champion Gentry Bradley said: "There was a lot of pressure on him, especially running under 10 seconds was the big thing. It seemed like he wanted under 10 more than he wanted the win! We just stayed focused on the objective."

Boonson will be back in action on Saturday as he takes part in the 200m. He will then be involved in the 4x100m relay two days later.
