Arsenal and Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement for Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus, reports the reliable Ben Jacobs.
The two Premier League sides have been locked in negotiations for some time now, but the breakthrough has finally been made.
Speaking to “The Football Terrace”, Jacobs confirmed that the two clubs have come to an agreement for Jesus, and that it is highly likely that a deal will be completed within the next 7-10 days.
Time is a dangerous concept in the transfer market, with every passing day presenting the chance for the footballing vultures to swoop in, something technical director Edu is acutely aware of. The Brazilian will be seeking to complete a deal for his compatriot as quickly as possible, with the eyes of Champions League clubs watching intently.
Jacobs also reports that Jesus is set to earn £220,000 a week at the Emirates, which would make him the highest earner at the club, ahead of current highest earner Thomas Partey. The Arsenal board took painful measures to gut the wage-bill since Arteta took the helm at London Colney, and are now looking to reap the fruits of their labours.
Gabriel Jesus would provide much needed threat to the Gunners attack, with Eddie Nketiah the sole forward at the club due to the recent departure of club captain Alexandre Lacazette.
At 25 years old, the Brazilian international is entering the prime of his career, and with four Premier League titles under his belt already, Arsenal look set to acquire the best years of Jesus, and if his younger years are any indication, the Emirates is set to be blessed with a potential world-beater.
