Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Pedro Neto is the ‘perfect player’ for Arsenal, amid rumours of interest from the Gunners for the Portuguese winger.

Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, the journalist claimed that he is the priority for Arsenal, as they look to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline.

The Wolves’ winger has attracted interest from a host of Premier League club, including the Gunners, and Wolves may be willing to let go of Neto for the right price.

Romano said:

“For Pedro Neto, it’s true he’s the priority. He’s a player super appreciated by Edu & Mikel Arteta.

“They consider him a perfect player for the idea of football they are having. It was already discussed internally.

"Let’s see what happens.”

He also spoke on Wolves’ stance on the player, who have had a busy window so far, spending over £100 million.

He claimed:

“At the moment, the stance of Wolves is they hope to keep the player & they are asking for important money - I think more than £50m. “

The main talk is that Arsenal want to pay less than £50 million but may be forced to fork out the sum if they really want to bring him to the Emirates.

Arsenal are already one of the top spenders this window, dishing out £132 million on the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and more.

Pedro Neto could supply very important depth in the left-wing position, as Arsenal currently only have the inform Gabriel Martinelli who is nailed on in that position.

At just 22 years old, the winger has played 76 Premier League games, scoring nine goals. He has also featured for Portugal three times so far in his career.

There could be some doubts however due to his injury history, as he missed 295 days last season due to a knee injury but has impressed since his return.

Arsenal missed out on signing Neto in 2017, when they made a £12 million bid when he was just 17 years old, and now five years later they want him again.

There are also other winger options Arsenal have been linked with, both Yeremy Pino of Villarreal and Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen have attracted interest from the North London club.

With the window ending in just a weeks’ time on September 1st, Arsenal will need to act fast to bring more players to the club.
