Bukayo Saka's Priority 'To Stay At Arsenal' Amid Contract Talks

Bukayo Saka's Priority 'To Stay At Arsenal' Amid Contract Talks

Bukayo Saka's priority is reportedly to stay at Arsenal, amid talks of a new contract for the young winger.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is looking to extend his stay at the club, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, as talks of a renewal begin to surface.

The Gunners winger has been subject to speculation linking him with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

With the player’s contract expiring at the end of the 2023/2024 season, rumours of Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool closing in have loomed over the 20-year-old, yet to renew with his current club.

That could be about to change, however, with both parties keen to put pen to paper on a new deal and kill off any lingering whispers of a transfer, as per Romano’s latest update on CaughtOffside’s Substack column.

Romano said:

“The top English clubs have been monitoring the situation for some time but the good news for Gunners supporters is that Arsenal is the player’s priority.”

Saka loves the club and there are negotiations in progress.”

With the North Londoners still active in the market, Romano also goes on to state that the club would hold the England international’s renewal in the same regard as that of a new arrival, with talks still ongoing.

Romano explained:

“The talks between Arsenal and Saka’s camp have been going on since February.”

“Arsenal consider Saka a key player and think his contract extension is like a new signing."

"It is a priority for this summer."

“Honestly, I think it’s ideal for Bukayo to stay at Arsenal because the project is very clear, ambitious and with a manager who believes in him."

"Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Saka."

“In my opinion, over the years he could end up being worth even more than €100 million - remember that Saka is only 20 years old,” the journalist concluded.

Arsenal boss Arteta shares the same understanding of the situation relayed by Romano, revealing on Saturday night that both he and Saka: “want the same thing. It’s a matter of time.”

As the winger readies himself for a new deal, the terms of his new contract are sure to place him among the highest earners at the club after starring with 18 goal contributions in 38 Premier League games.

According to Sportrac, the Hale End product currently earns £30,000-a-week, ranking the winger at 17th for highest earners in the first-team squad.
