5 Things We Learned From Arsenal's 4-0 Win Over Chelsea

Arsenal have beaten Chelsea 4-0 to win the Florida Cup. Here's five things we learned.

Arsenal have thumped London rivals Chelsea 4-0, to win the Florida Cup.

The Gunners were impressive from the first minute, and quickly went ahead through Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian continued his fine form since signing, chipping past the keeper.

Martin Odegaard added a second shortly after, firing in from Gabriel Martinelli's ball.

Chelsea looked to hit back in the second half but were soon hit again, this time Bukayo Saka fired home after Edouard Mendy saved Granit Xhaka's shot.

Albert Sambi Lokonga added a fourth in added time, heading in from Cedric's cross.

Arsenal impressed massively and were relatively unthreatened.

Here are five things we learned.

1 - Arsenal can make a serious challenge for a top four spot.

Despite the match being a preseason friendly, both teams started with a near full strength squad, and Arsenal dominated.

Goals from Jesus, Odegaard, Saka and Lokonga, along with a strong defensive performance was more than enough to give Arsenal the win.

With less than two weeks to go until the season begins, Arsenal look ready to challenge for a Champions League spot, after missing out so closely last season.

2 - William Saliba is the real deal.

William Saliba was Ligue 1 player of the year last season in France, and Mikel Arteta has made it clear he has the chance to fight for a starting spot next year.

Saliba showed Arsenal fans’ just how good he could be, shutting down Chelsea’s attacks throughout the entire 90 minutes.

The pairing of Saliba and Gabriel proved a real headache for Chelsea attacks, and it wouldn’t be shock if Ben White is moved to right back or left out of the side to start next season.

3 - Gabriel Jesus can make a challenge for the golden boot race.

Since joining the Gunners this summer from Man City, Gabriel Jesus has started his Arsenal career on fire, scoring four goals in as many games.

His calm chip finish over Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy gave Arsenal the lead in the 15th minute.

Jesus gives something Arsenal have seemingly been missing over the last few years, a striker with the ability to run at people and make things happen at all times.

Buyako Saka was Arsenal’s top scorer last season with just 11 league goals, but Jesus has the ability to lead the line and fight some of the top striker for a Golden Boot title.

4 - Bukayo Saka and William Saliba both certainly need new contracts.

Both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba have just two years remaining on their contract, and there have been many reports suggesting the two could have a new deal wrapped up very soon.

With clubs like Man City and Liverpool sniffing around for star boy Saka, a new contract is certainly needed very soon.

Saliba is the same, he has shown his ability over the last two years in France, and Arsenal now know that at such young ages, it is vital that both players are kept over the coming years.

5 - Oleksandr Zinchenko is a perfect fit for when Kieran Tierney is injured.

Over the last two season, Tierney has missed 29 games, mostly due to injury.

Last season it was clear backup left back Nuno Tavares was not ready to fill the role, however the new Ukrainian is more than capable.

Going forward, Zinchenko has the ability to bring others into the game at all times, and stopped Chelsea’s attacks from the right very often.

Arsenal will leave their US tour very happy, as excitement builds for the new season.
