However, the Blues showed fighting spirit and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a goal back before half-time.

It appeared that the spoils were set to be shared at Selhurst Park, with nothing to separate the two sides as the final whistle neared.

The midfielder picked the ball up from fellow substitute Christian Pulisic and rifled a shot into the back of the net with just minutes remaining in the match.

This will no doubt have frustrated Crystal Palace's players, who looked like they were set to leave with a point.

This frustration was clear in winger Zaha, who took to social media in a now deleted post where he appeared to make a dig at Chelsea full-back James.

Taking to Twitter after the match, James bosted a picture of him coming away with the ball against Zaha.

The caption showed a lock, hinting that he got the better of Zaha and gave him nothing in the match.

This clearly did not go down well with the Crystal Palace star, who appears to have replied on Instagram.

Posting a story, which he later deleted, Zaha wrote: "Clouts a hell of a drug lol. But yall be safe."

It is unconfirmed as to whether this was directed at James, who put in an impressive performance in the London derby.
