Graham Potter has revealed his plans to improve and find solutions to avoid injuries following blows to Reece James, N'Golo Kante and Wesley Fofana.

Chelsea have had to contend with a number of injuries so far this season and it has caused them some problems.

In just the second game of the season, French midfielder Kante was forced off against Tottenham Hotspur. He suffered a hamstring injury in the closing moments of the match and has been out for the past two months.

The other two injuries have come more recently.

Fofana is currently out of contention after he sprained his knee against AC Milan in Chelsea's 3-0 win in the Champions League.

The defender had scored his first goal for the Blues early on in that game, but just 15 minutes later his game came to an end.

Arguably the west London sides biggest loss happened in their last game in the reverse fixture against AC Milan.

Despite the 2-0 victory, James had to come off in the second half after sustaining a knee injury. After seeing a specialist to see if surgery is needed, it was deemed it would not be required. The club confirmed he is set to be out for around eight weeks.

All three of these players look set to miss out on the chance to go to the World Cup.

Chelsea fans and Potter will be hoping they are ready to go once again when the Premier League season resumes in December.

The boss has revealed he does not believe the clubs poor injury record is just down to bad luck.

Instead he feels there is improvements that can be made to combat the blows the Blues consistently seem to face.

Co-owner Todd Boehly has already tried to improve the situation, he has made some changes to the club's medical department.

Speaking about the injury record Chelsea have and what can be done, Potter said: "I don't think you should blame everything on luck that's for sure.

"I think we can have a look and see what we can do better. Obviously, I've been here a few weeks so I haven't got the answers completely.

"But clearly, we want to always try to improve and that's an area that we can probably improve."

When talking about the solutions he can look to in the squad, he shared: "It would be wrong to say we won’t miss a player like Reece or NG (Kante) – Wesley Fofana as well.

"But that’s the job of the squad, my challenge is to find different solutions. We haven’t got another Reece James or another N’Golo Kante."

He continued: "You’ve got to find a different way of working in the team. Tactically, that’s a challenge but one we are up for."
