Graham Potter delivers verdict on Chelsea's Champions League win against AC Milan

Chelsea won 2-0 against Milan at the San Siro.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has delivered his verdict on his side's important Champions League win against AC Milan.

The Blues travelled to the San Siro for matchday four of the competition's group stage, having beaten the Serie A side in the reverse fixture last week.

Chelsea would soon taste victory against Milan once again, beating them 2-0 away from home in what proved to be a fairly comfortable affair.

Former blue Fikayo Tomori was sent off in the early stages of the first half, with Jorginho proceeding to score the resulting penalty.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would double the visitors' lead soon after, firing in at the near post from Mason Mount's through ball into the box.

The result sees Chelsea rise to the top of Group E, with Dinamo Zagreb and FC Salzburg sharing the points on the night.

When speaking to BT Sport after the match, Potter shared his thoughts on the result at the San Siro, with the west London side now having seven points to their name in the group.

"To come here and win is certainly not easy, credit to the players," said the head coach.

"We got a bit of luck, but overall I thought the performance was good."

Potter remains unbeaten in all five games he has managed at the club so far, with the result against Milan also being their fourth win in a row across all competitions.

He was also quick to praise the influence of Mount during the game, who had a helping in hand in both of the side's goals.

The Chelsea boss said: "He's really important.

"He was on a yellow card and he's played a lot of football so at half-time we gave him a breather.

"He was fantastic. He was a constant threat. I've been really pleased with him from the start."

Chelsea had not played at the San Siro since they faced Inter Milan in the Champions League back in 2010 under Carlo Ancelotti.

Before the reverse fixture against Milan last week at Stamford Bridge, the Blues were sitting bottom of Group E after two games.

However, their triumphs against the reigning Serie A Champions have seen them rise to the top of the pile and with two games left to play, they are one step closer to the last 16 of the competition.

Potter's side will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they face Aston Villa away from home, with the club keen to continue their winning form amid a hectic schedule before the World Cup.
