Chelsea Owners Witness Dismal Arsenal Defeat As Thomas Tuchel Issues Worrying Message

Chelsea Owners Witness Dismal Arsenal Defeat As Thomas Tuchel Issues Worrying Message

Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali and Hansjorg Wyss were in attendance for the hefty defeat.

Chelsea owners Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali and Hansjorg Wyss were all in attendance for their pre-season defeat against Arsenal, according to reports.

The Blues were beaten 4-0 by the Gunners in Orlando, and the result means Thomas Tuchel’s side will depart the US with just one win out of three on their tour across the pond.

For the owners, it is their first summer as the new custodians of the club and while they have been already active in the transfer market in preparation for the new Premier League season, it appears as though there is still work to be done.

Chelsea have only scored three goals in as many games throughout the summer, with one final friendly left to play against Udinese on Friday evening.

However, after watching the hefty defeat against their London rivals, they could push to sign more top targets ahead of the new season.

According to the Telegraph, the trio were in attendance at the Camping World Stadium in Florida when the Blues suffered their second loss of pre-season.

They began their summer schedule with a win against Club America but lost on penalties against Charlotte FC a few days later, with the defeat to Arsenal concluding their tour in the States.

After the game, Tuchel issued a worrying message amid the start of the new season, with the German boss unhappy with the way his side played against the Gunners.

He revealed his concerns over the lack of goals in the side when he said: “Listen, it's the same players, so why should anything change?

“We will see, hopefully, development but at the moment, we have the same issues because we have the same players."

Tuchel also spoke on whether or not his team need more players to come through the doors in order to compete on various fronts next season.

“The analysing of the season does not change because of this (Arsenal) game,” said the German.

“Unfortunately, it proved my point and the last week proves my point.

“I would prefer to not be right and I did everything to prove myself wrong, but at the moment I feel I was right when I look at the last season and at the parts of the game where we struggled and how we struggled.”

Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly have been the first two signings at the club this summer, with the duo both playing in the match against Arsenal.

The latter made his first appearance for the club, and did well in his limited time on the pitch.

In just under two weeks Chelsea will play their first Premier League match of the new season, but it appears as though there is more work needed on the pitch.
