How Callum Hudson-Odoi's brother saved Bayer Leverkusen loan deal after Chelsea's stance

How Callum Hudson-Odoi's brother saved Bayer Leverkusen loan deal after Chelsea's stance

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s brother and agent played a vital role in securing his loan move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s brother and agent played a vital role in securing his loan move to Bayer Leverkusen after Chelsea refused to include an option to buy, it has been revealed.

The 21-year-old had requested a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer as he wished to play first team football, with a loan move being agreed by Chelsea.

There was much interest for Hudson-Odoi, with Newcastle United and Southampton said to be the most interested sides in the Premeir League.

However, the winger has opted to ply his trade in the Bundesliga for a season, accepting Bayer Leverkusen as his next destination

Hudson-Odoi was pictured after landing in Germany, and discussed the loan move with the Leverkusen fans.

Upon his arrival he said: "Very happy to be here.

"Very good time, hopefully try to win a trophy here, we have a very good team.

"We want to get as far in the Champions League as possible and just enjoy it."

It has now been revealed as to how Hudson-Odoi’s agent and brother, Bradley, convinced Bayer Leverkusen to take him on loan with no option to buy.

As reported by Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports, the move was in danger of collapsing as Leverkusen wanted an option to buy.

However, with Chelsea’s demands for a straight loan, Bradley Hudson-Odoi convinced the Bundesliga club to take the deal on Chelsea’s terms.

Now, the 21-year-old will spend the season on loan in the Bundesliga and gain valuable first team football.

It remains to be seen as to what the future will hold for the Cobham graduate when he returns next summer.

He will most likely be hoping to be handed a regular spot in Chelsea’s attack, but must first prove himself this season in Germany.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

While he could be seen as a replacement for Hudson-Odoi, it remains to be seen as to whether a deal can be struck.

Wilfried Zaha has also been mentioned as a potential candidate as the transfer deadline edges ever near.
