Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was involved in a verbal altercation with a fan at last night's WWE Hall of Fame ceremony – and the tense face-off has since gone viral on social media.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Johnson, 51, would be inducting his late grandmother, Lia Maivia, into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2024.

Johnson would describe his grandmother as a "pioneer in our business of professional wrestling" after she took over his grandfather's wrestling company in Hawaii.

It was a touching moment for Johnson and his family. On Friday night, he listed some of the legends that worked for his grandmother, including Andre the Giant, Ric Flair and one of his heroes, Dusty Rhodes.

Then, in the aftermath of his speech at the Wells Fargo Center, The Rock was heading back to the locker room when he stopped to confront a fan who was voicing his thoughts on Johnson's recent run in the WWE.

The Rock will partner with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns when they take on Cody Rhodes and Seth "Freakin" Rollins at this weekend's event.

If Rhodes and Rollins emerge victorious on night one, then The Bloodline will be barred from ringside for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match between Rhodes and Reigns.

But if the Reigns and The Rock come out on top, then the main event title match in Philadelphia will become "Bloodline Rules," meaning anything goes for the faction.

In the build-up, Johnson has not held back when it comes to his treatment of Rhodes; something the fan at last night's Hall of Fame ceremony may have been irked about.

You can check out the altercation below:

The Rock: “What was that?”

Fan: “Cody’s coming for ya”

The Rock: “What was all before that”

Fan: “You sold out”

Ahead of their much-anticipated match at "The Grandest Stage of Them All", both The Rock and Cody Rhodes have been cutting strongly-worded promos against each other.

Last month, on an episode of RAW, "The American Nightmare" delivered a segment featuring a British expletive.

Speaking to the crowd inside the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Rhodes said: "I have filled this ring up with positive platitudes about Romas Reigns. Clearly I respect the Tribal Chief.

"But make no mistake about it, I am aware that Roman Reigns is the man who screwed me out of the biggest dream I ever had in my life at last year's Wrestlemania.

"So although I respect you Roman Reigns, please understand... I hate your guts. And it's totally fine with me if you hate me too. I mean, it's my fault that you and your cousin can't have this w**k fest at Wrestlemania that you wanted to have."
