Cody Rhodes has called for WWE to make a major change after winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40.

Rhodes pinned Roman Reigns on Night Two in Philadelphia to end his 1,316-day reign as Universal Champion.

In what was one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history, Rhodes prevailed after a series of incredible run-ins that saw John Cena, The Rock, Seth Rollins and even The Undertaker involved in the closing stages.

On the following edition of Raw, 'The American Nightmare' held a championship celebration, and had one more face-off with The Rock before the pair teased a future match.

But prior to that, Rhodes made an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show', where he was asked about potentially bringing back the iconic 'winged eagle' championship belt.

The belt was initially introduced to the company by Hulk Hogan in 1988, and was worn by the likes of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels during their world title reigns.

The title would be used in different guises for the next 17 years, before it was retired once John Cena became world champion in 2005.

It was also the belt that Rhodes' father Dusty competed for during his short initial spell with WWE (then WWF).

And Rhodes spoke of his desire to bring the 'winged eagle' back - although also argued for the title's current design and stressed that the final decision lies with WWE head of creative, Triple H.

He said: "This [the current belt] is what I got in the ring so there's a level of specialness to this, equity that's been put into it, that I have a warm feeling about, so I feel differently about it today.

"However, that said, I had changed a title previously in the past.

"I am not in charge of anything, I am no longer an EVP, I have no stroke other than the fact that I'm the champion, but I just think it would be special perhaps to see a particular championship, one that I grew up on.

"Again, I'm not in charge of anything. Triple H is in charge of things, but you guys are damn right - the winged eagle.

"If it doesn't happen, just don't get mad at me, okay? I'll do what I did the last time, I'm going to try my best."
