John Cena excited supporters online last night as the WWE superstar made a subtle reference to a recent viral video.

The wrestler was filmed eating at a restaurant with a friend by a fan who asked if he could perform his famous 'You can't see me' taunt from WWE.

The 'Doctor of Thuganomics', however, clearly wanted to be left alone at that particular moment, and replied: "Can I enjoy some time with my friends?"

The fan then apologised, to which Cena gave a smile and a nod before carrying on with his conversation.

Cena's polite and respectful response saw the video go viral on TikTok with the WWE star being spotted numerous times in the UK of late.

Recently, a fan bumped into the wrestler-turned-actor at a gym in Liverpool, prompting them to ask for a photo and post it online.

2023 has been a quiet year for the 46-year-old in terms of wrestling, having only appeared at WrestleMania 39 when losing to Austin Theory before Saturday's Money in the Bank.

The American now prioritises his acting career, having appeared in the Fast and Furious and Marvel franchises and also stars in TV show 'Peacemaker.'

However, long-term fans of the WWE ace will have enjoyed seeing their hero back in the ring with one fan noticing a reference to the recently viral video.

When taunted by opponent Grayson Waller, the American provided the perfect response. The Australian said: "No one says no to the Grayson Waller effect" to which Cena responded: "Can I enjoy some time with my friends?"

Having made the same comment from the viral video, the WWE favourite continued: "Before you came out here, my friends and I were trying to let the world know that WrestleMania needs to come to London!"

Fans in attendance cheered for Cena before Waller attacked the clear crowd favourite, who went on to boo Waller and chant Cena's name.
