A promising health update on former WWE champion Jake Hager has emerged after his eye began leaking blood due to a horrific Power Slap injury.
Former WWE star Hager, who won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2010 under the name Jack Swagger, was recently competing at a Power Slap event in Texas and suffered an injury described as 'probably the worst injury' he had ever seen by UFC and Power Slap boss Dana White.
The injury led to Hager's eye leaking blood almost immediately after the strike, but thankfully a new health update has revealed that he he has some vision restored after the exact injury was identified.
Jake Hager reportedly has some vision restored after eye leaks blood at Power Slap event
In his third Power Slap outing, against Johnny Magna on September 17, Hager suffered the brutal injury that led to the former WWE star leaking blood from his left eye.

“Not good. That’s probably the worst injury we’ve had in the UFC, in Power Slap, anything,” White claimed during a live stream with Nina Drama watching the event.
“It looks like his tear duct ruptured. Something like that. Something crazy.
"I don't give a f*** if we've got to fly a doctor in from Germany, we're going to get this guy taken care of. The doctors have said they've never seen it before."
Shortly after the event, Hager’s partner Patricia Blackburn, who is also a Power Slap fighter, revealed that he had undergone emergency surgery on his eye soon after the match.
And now it's been revealed that Hager is suffering from a globe rupture and significant globe tear, but has some vision restored in his left eye.
According to Slap News on Instagram, Nicholas Cvjetkovich, known in WWE as Kizarny, revealed that information, but the post adds that the exten to which Hager's vision has been restored is unknown.
It also adds that the Power Slap competitor may require additional surgeries to treat the injury.
What is a globe rupture and how serious is Jake Hager's eye injury?
A globe rupture is described as a "severe, full-thickness injury to the eye wall caused by blunt or penetrating trauma."
Thankfully for Hager, although the injury is serious, it is likely that he will be able to restore his vision as online sports doctor Brian Sutterer explained the situation he now faces.
“I think it was an open globe injury. It is certainly a very scary and serious situation where the eyeball itself gets disrupted, causing those internal contents to leak out," Sutterer said reacting to a clip of the injury,
“Surprisingly, outcomes, I think, are pretty positive whenever you appropriately manage and get to an open globe injury, in terms of being able to restore vision."
However, Sutterer added that there is certainly a risk of the injury persisting or continuing to flare up if Hager continues to compete in Power Slap.
“Hopefully, this does not become a long-term thing for Hager, and he’s able to restore his vision," he added.
“Hopefully, he doesn’t go out there and try to slap any more because once you’ve been through this once, why tempt fate a second time?”
As it stands, it is not known if Hager plans to continue competing at Power Slap, or any other combat sport for that matter.
