Player ratings: Leicester City 0-1 Manchester United (Premier League)

Player ratings: Leicester City 0-1 Manchester United (Premier League)

The player ratings from a third win in a row for Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag once again opted for an unchanged team from the impressive performances against Liverpool and Southampton.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire remained on the bench, as did Casemiro who is likely being rested for the game against Arsenal for his first start.

United recorded back-to-back away wins in the Premier League for the first time since the 2020/21 season courtesy of a Jadon Sancho goal, clearly riding the wave of confidence from the Southampton win.

Here is how UtdDistrict rated the Reds’ performance against Leicester:

David de Gea - 7/10

Was relatively untested, but played some very nice passes at times and made an excellent save from a James Maddison free kick.

Diogo Dalot - 7/10

Handled Harvey Barnes well and progressed the ball excellently as usual. Another strong performance, United have not signed a right back this window and Dalot is making sure that doesn’t matter.

Raphaël Varane - 7.5/10

Just an absolute titan of a defender. Equal to absolutely everything that gets thrown at him, been a standout in every single game he has played this season.

Started and completed three full games in a row now, his fitness looks like it has turned a corner. Huge boost for Erik ten Hag.

Lisandro Martínez - 7/10

Not quite as imperious as the last two games, but his fight and aggression is always a huge asset to his side.

Passing good as usual although long balls did not find their target so much. He will enjoy having his old Ajax teammate, Antony, to switch play to.

Tyrell Malacia - 7/10

Developing a good partnership with Sancho on the left. Was composed as usual on the ball, and looked more willing to make runs beyond when his teammates had possession.

Scott McTominay - 6.5/10

Once again used his physical qualities very well in the midfield battle, he seems to be defending smarter under Ten Hag. Really does need to start doing more for his side in possession though.

Christian Eriksen - 7/10

Worked hard as always and consistently exposed Leicester’s weak press with some excellent possession play. A calming presence yet also feels like he can pick a killer pass at any moment.

Looked sluggish later in the second half though, really needs to start getting some more rest. United have options to rest him and should use them.

Jadon Sancho - 8/10

Scored his second goal of the season, only one off his tally from last season already. It was always a matter of when and not if with regards to him finding form.

Impressive all round performance from him, linked up particularly well with Marcus Rashford - who assisted him. Again subbed fairly early, likely rest for Sunday.

Bruno Fernandes - 7/10

Led the team well once again. Did really well in the build up to Sancho’s goal, although never seemed to create huge threat himself.

Anthony Elanga - 6/10

Worked hard as usual, had some decent moments on the ball and made some very good runs. Never felt like he really got going though.

Marcus Rashford - 7.5/10

Much improved performance leading the line, linked up excellently with Jadon Sancho who he assisted to put United 1-0 up. Looked far more confident individually.

Substitutes

Cristiano Ronaldo - 7/10

Came on around the same time as he did against Southampton. Worked harder than recent appearances.

Had some excellent counter attacks and nearly scored a stunning bicycle kick, easily his best cameo for the side so far. Was unlucky not to leave with a goal and assist.

Casemiro - 7/10

Given a longer runout this time, coming on around the hour mark. Played some really impressive forward passes right after coming on, his ability to break lines and switch play looks good.

Did well to take charge of possession, and mopped up well defensively as expected.

Fred - N/A

Came on in the dying moments playing as a 10 of sorts, brought his usual energy and helped United see the game out.
