Erik ten Hag hints at Casemiro start for Manchester United against Arsenal and discusses Antony's role in the squad

Erik ten Hag has hinted that Casemiro may start for Manchester United against Arsenal for the first time in the Premier League.

Manchester United will face Arsenal on Sunday as the two teams prepare for one of the biggest games in the Premier League so far this season.

Arsenal have gotten off to a flying start in the league this season, winning all five of their fixtures. As a result, they sit top of the Premier League.

Manchester United on the other hand have had an incredibly mixed start, with two losses and three victories.

After suffering defeats to Brighton and Brentford, United went on to beat Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City, with a key consistent part of those wins being an unchanged XI.

Although it’s normally unwise to change a winning formula, many predict Erik ten Hag to make changes to his line-up when Arsenal visit Old Trafford.

One of these changes which many fans would like to see is the introduction of Casemiro into the starting XI.

So far the £60 million signing from Real Madrid has made two appearances off the bench for United, both in the last two fixtures.

However, when questioned on if Casemiro is ready to be ‘unleashed on’ Arsenal, Erik ten Hag simply replied: "I think so.

"He is used to playing big games,” the Dutch manager continued to describe about the man who has won five Champions League trophies.

Casemiro is not the only signing who fans hope to see start against Mikel Arteta’s men.

Another Brazilian recruit that United made this summer is the left-footed right winger Antony, who is famed for his creativity and flair within the beautiful game.

Signing for £85 million often comes a lot of pressure, as many have witnessed with the signings of Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire for record-breaking fees in the recent past.

When asked on if Antony will be able to cope with this pressure, Ten Hag has no doubt about it.

"He can deal with that,” he said. “He lives for football and enjoys it. He has proved himself already he has been in the Champions League, Brazilian national team and an Olympic gold medalist.”

Famously, Erik ten Hag has already worked with Antony before when the pair were at Ajax together for two seasons before swapping for the red of Manchester.

One huge advantage of this is that Ten Hag knows the players abilities and traits very well already, and this dynamic will also allow Antony to settle into the Premier League and Manchester United much more easily.

"He will bring temperament and creativity,” Ten Hag explained when asked what Antony can bring to his new team.

“Also for him it is a new start and he has to adapt to the team, to the Premier League and to the high intensity, but I am sure he will adapt.
