Manchester United Squad vs Atletico Madrid Confirmed: Lisandro Martinez & Christian Eriksen Set To Feature

Manchester United Squad vs Atletico Madrid Confirmed: Lisandro Martinez & Christian Eriksen Set To Feature

The new signings could gel with the team more ahead of the Premier League opener.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has named a 21-man squad to face Atletico Madrid in Norway on Saturday.

New signings Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen are set to play after being included in the full list.

They participated in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday with a second-string side, but this could be the opportunity to really get the blood flowing ahead of the season.

United face Diego Simeone's men in a clash in Oslo. The Reds are yet to lose a pre-season fixture.

Cristiano Ronaldo has not travelled with the squad, as he is more likely to partake in the second friendly in two days against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday.

That will have Ten Hag utilise a weaker side, with the team facing the Spanish giants being the one more likely to start the league.

Goalkeepers:

David De Gea, Tom Heaton, Matej Kovar.

Defenders:

Diogo Dalot, Ethan Laird, Victor Lindelöf, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Alex Telles.

Midfielders:

Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, James Garner, Scott McTominay, Facundo Pellistri, Donny van de Beek.

Forwards:

Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho.

This game kicks off at 12:45 BST and will be an important test ahead of Brighton's Old Trafford visit.

Ten Hag has insisted that he is seeing progress ahead of the season, but that there still needs to be much more as he looks to transform the team that finished sixth last term.

"The players in the team do really well and they respond well to practising, the exercises, to the game plan and to the principles we present on them," he said during tour.

"So you see something is rising. Are we happy with it? It’s a starting point.

"There’s a long way to go and there’s a lot of room for improvement. We know that, but until now the guys do really well."
