"We Have Just Started" - Erik Ten Hag Reacts To Manchester United's 4-0 Win Against Liverpool

"We Have Just Started" - Erik Ten Hag Reacts To Manchester United's 4-0 Win Against Liverpool

The manager spoke on a number of topics after his first match in charge.

Erik ten Hag's Manchester United impressed against Liverpool as they secured a 4-0 win against Jurgen Klopp's men.

Before the first pre-season game, Bruno Fernandes stated that United would not treat the game like a friendly match, and he wasn't kidding.

The Reds were dominant in the first half, albeit against a poor Liverpool line-up.

But then when Klopp introduced a strong team in the latter stages of the game, they were unable to score and United grabbed a fourth towards the end of the game.

Ten Hag was impressed with several aspects of the performance in his first game on charge.

He also recognised that the press needs to improve, as United were cut open on occasion.

"Of course, we are satisfied today," He told MUTV after the game.

"I think there was a team with a great spirit and we know that we have just started.

We did the press, there was some mistakes in pressing and we conceded some chances, but we also created a lot.

"I think our team was brave, very proactive and we have to work very hard to get out the mistakes, but of course we are happy with the first game."

The Dutchman also wanted to keep a level head, with the result meaning very little in pre-season.

He did still mention some of the positives that he saw during the game.

In particular, he seemed to like the offensive style of the likes of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial.

"I know we have good players. We have started to build a team and I am happy with the first game.

"Of course, [it will take] a lot of time. Believe me, I have seen a lot of mistakes.

"Liverpool played three teams, they were not at their strongest. We will not overestimate this result.

"We have to be careful, but still, I have seen some really good things. We have a lot of speed and creativity up front."

United's next game is against Melbourne Victory on Friday.

They will be looking to have another impressive performance.
