Manchester United are preparing for a European away trip to face FC Sheriff in the Europa League on Thursday, and Erik ten Hag has named a 22-man squad for the encounter.

Following a disappointing opening game in the competition, United will feel that this fixture is a must-win.

Ten Hag's team fell to a 1-0 defeat against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford last week. The penalty scored from the visitors was a contentious decision to put it lightly.

While that game saw rotation from the side that went four unbeaten in the Premier League beforehand, it's likely that we see a stronger side to face the Moldovan club.

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, United had their clash against Crystal Palace postponed last weekend.

Since then, the Reds have also seen the postponement of the the much anticipated derby against Leeds United.

With an international break creeping up, that means United's only game before October will be this upcoming fixture against FC Sheriff.

They will next play against Manchester City on 2 October, before playing eight more matches within the month.

Manchester United's travelling squad to face FC Sheriff

Goalkeepers:

De Gea, Heaton, Vitek.

Defenders:

Lindelöf, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia, Varane, Dalot, Shaw.

Midfielders:

Fernandes, Eriksen, Fred, Casemiro, McTominay, Iqbal.

Forwards:

Ronaldo, Antony, Sancho, Elanga, Garnacho, McNeill.

Absentees from the squad include the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Martin Dubravka and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Luke Shaw returns to the squad following injury, whilst Charlie McNeill has been called up once again after making his Manchester United debut against Real Sociedad.

Radek Vitek has been introduced to the matchday squad in the absence of Dubravka. The 18-year-old is a highly rated goalkeeper in the academy.

Fans would also love to see Zidane Iqbal get minutes after he impressed so much throughout pre-season.
