Manchester United fans will protest against the Glazer ownership ahead of Liverpool's trip to Old Trafford on Monday evening.

The supporters group 'the 1958' have organised the march following news that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is interested in buying the football club from the rotten current ownership.

It has been reported that the Glazers are willing to sell a minority stake in United, and Ratcliffe is willing to purchase this stake if there was eventually a plan for it to turn into long-term ownership of the Manchester-based club.

“If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer," a spokesman for the British billionaire said.

“This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent.

"Jim is looking at what can be done now and, knowing how important the club is to the city, it feels like the time is right for a reset."

The 69-year-old is a known supporter of the Reds, he was unsuccessful with a late bid for Chelsea back in May.

United have had a torrid start to life in the Premier League under Erik ten Hag, with back-to-back losses against Brighton and Brentford.

Protests were organised before both of these fixtures, but following the 4-0 drubbing to Thomas Frank's men, the fact that public interest in the club has sparked since then, there is an inkling that this march will have a bigger and better impact.

Following the European Super League fiasco, which Joel Glazer was at the heart of, United supporters protested against their ownership ahead of a fixture against Liverpool and managed to postpone the game after storming the pitch.

Whilst the approach will not be similar, with the 1958 stressing the importance of the protest remaining peaceful, they will hope to have a great influence with their plan.

The protest details ahead of Manchester United vs Liverpool

The meeting point for the protest will be at the Tollgate, the pub is located just a few minute walk away from Old Trafford. Supporters will be meeting there from 17:30 BST and will begin their march at 19:00 BST.

It has been encouraged for fans to bring flags, which can be put on 30 metre fencing which will be provided.

Once they have arrived at the stadium, they will congregate at The Trinity.

On the opening weekend, the club shop was closed after a large group of United supporters had marched round to that area of the stadium.
