Police bodycam footage of UFC's Jon Jones being arrested on Thursday has been released.

Light heavyweight champion Jones was arrested on charges which included aggravated DWI and negligent use of a firearm in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Footage has now emerged from the Bernalillo County District Attorney via YouTube channel Las Vegas Review-Journal and it offers an insight into what happened in the early hours of Thursday.

Per MMA Junkie, Jones admitted to alcohol usage earlier in the day explaining he had drunk vodka.

The 32-year-old is then asked to perform a sobriety test and he proceeds to tell officers that he has short term memory loss as well as ADHD.

Jones goes on to admit he was 'stir crazy' at home and wanted to go for a drive, despite New Mexico being under a stay-at-home rule due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"I got stir crazy. I got pulled over just being nice, being nice to the homeless people," Jones explains.

"I literally just got stir crazy. I just wanted to have a drive. This is my first drive in two weeks. And I saw these homeless guys, I was being nice to them, having conversation with them, treating them like humans."

Officer Brian Johnson then asks Jones to perform a variety of other exercises before informing him he is under arrest.

The star is then placed into the back of a police van and his voice breaks as he asks:

"Sir, if it's not too much, could you roll down the window?"

Jones is currently due in court on April 8.

The New York native has previously been in hot water after he was arrested for drink driving in 2012 and pled guilty to DUI.

Former UFC fighter Ben Askren tweeted out after Jones' arrest: "For the life of me I can't figure out why he doesn't hire a buddy and pay him $50k a year to be his driver."

'Bones,' who is often regarded as one of the best MMA fighters of all time, last fought in February against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247.
