But he does like the sound of fighting Poirier who's coming off a huge stoppage victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 257.

The 35-year-old said he's available for fights in the welterweight division and issued a message to 'The Diamond' on Twitter.

"[Nick Diaz Army] soldier 170 pounds. Come get you some of the real," he tweeted.

"These are fighting words, though," wrote Diaz in another tweet which was accompanied by an old clip of Poirier cursing him out while lying on a hospital bed.

"So f**k a weight class," he added.

Diaz hasn't fought since his defeat to Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title at UFC 244 back in November 2019.

Though he's remained relevant following call-outs by McGregor and Poirier, who wants to throw down with Diaz in the Octagon.

"It is exciting, it is fun," Poirier said about a potential clash with Diaz.

"Those are the kind of fights I want to be part of. Fights that are exciting to me and that I'm motivated to get up and bust my ass every day.

"I think the fans would be in for a great fight if that one happens. Does it make sense in the lightweight division? No. Does it make sense where I am at, standing in the door front of a title shot? No.

"But, it is a fun fight and this is entertainment and this is fighting."

They were supposed to fight at UFC 230 in November 2018, though the bout was scrapped following an injury to Poirier.
