Nurmagomedov retired on Saturday night after defeating Justin Gaethje to retain his lightweight title and take his record inside the octagon to 29-0.
He has been named pound for pound number one in the wake of his retirement and Jones hit out at the decision earlier this week.
Beneath Jones' tweet, in which he said Conor McGregor is the only man he fought with name value, Ferguson replied: "This guy gets it."

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were slated to face each other five times throughout their careers but it never came off, with their most recent scheduled bout at UFC 249 halted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Gaethje stepped in and replaced Nurmagomedov at UFC 249, defeating Ferguson to become interim champion and earn a shot at 'The Eagle' this past weekend.
With the lightweight title set to be vacated, Ferguson has admitted he is keen to face Dustin Poirier to declare a new champion.
"I called out everyone on one post and Dustin already f*****g said let's do it... The way I called it, was it has to have myself and you got to have Dustin Poirier for the title," Ferguson told Submission Radio.

"I mean, Gaethje fu**ing lost. I've been sitting here doing my sh*t and making sure I've been cool, calm, and collective. Being real, give me the fu**ing title shot, give me my chance. You guys want to see me fight and I really want to fight."
When asked if McGregor deserves a shot at the title ahead of his comeback in January, Ferguson did not hold back.
"He just deserves a chance to fight," 'El Cucuy' declared. "F*** him and fighting for the title.
"He needs to fight. He needs to fight someone in the top 15, get his ass back on there, he don't belong in the top five.
"Get the f**k outta here. F**k you pay me, dude. Nothing personal, but you're still a b**ch.
"If you want that heavy competition quit hanging around everybody else and get your ass back in the gym."
