Old video of Khabib predicting Tony Ferguson's downfall resurfaces after punishing UFC 291 defeat

Tony Ferguson suffered his sixth UFC defeat in a row last weekend.

An old video of Khabib Nurmagomedov predicting Tony Ferguson's downfall has resurfaced online following his crushing defeat at UFC 291.

Ferguson lost his SIXTH UFC fight in a row as he suffered a punishing defeat to Bobby Green, who secured a submission with just six seconds left of the contest.

The brutal losing streak comes after 'El Cucuy' had reeled off 12 consecutive wins inside the famed Octagon, which included a victory over Kevin Lee for the interim UFC lightweight title.

Though his winning streak was snapped by Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 back in 2020 as he inflicted a crushing defeat on his rival.

Ferguson was due to face Nurmagomedov at the event until the Dagestan star withdrew from the contest.

Gaethje went onto stop Ferguson late in the fifth round, with 'The Eagle' providing a damning assessment on his defeat.

The clip of the UFC legend predicting his downfall has since re-emerged online following Ferguson's defeat to Green last weekend.

"Nobody gonna stay the same for a long time," he said. "Tony Ferguson’s time is finished, you know. Now he’s gonna come back, someone gonna beat him again. I believe because when you take damage like this, you’re never gonna be same, never ever, even if you’re Tony Ferguson."

Ferguson, 39, released a statement on social media in wake of his latest defeat as he addressed the outcome of the UFC 291 lightweight bout and his future.

"Walked into the Delta Center to show the world I was back on track. The preparation for this fight was exceptional & it was one of the best camps I’ve had," he wrote on Instagram.

"As the fight began, I was in the Xone, flowing & feeling confident. Bobby knew the direction of the fight & I believe he knew what he was doing when he poked my eye.

!He has a big History of moves like this. It significantly impaired my vision, making it difficult to see clearly out of my eye. Despite this eye poke I never considered stopping the fight.

"Although the doc wanted too. Throughout my career, I’ve always pushed through challenges & never given up This time was no different.

"Unfortunately in sports, setbacks like this are part of the journey While I won’t use the eye poke as an excuse for the outcome, I know for a fact I have more to give.

"Moving forward, I plan to work closely with Dana, Hunter & my entire team to assess what’s next.

"I’d like to take a moment to say thank you to my Wife, my Family & my Fans. Your support means the world to me & it’s what drives me to keep pushing forward & striving for greatness.

"Thank you all for being by my side through the highs & lows of this sport that I love. Eye appointment tomorrow, some recovery & back after it. Love you all."
