If you cast your mind back to March of 2016, Diaz replaced an injured Rafael Dos Anjos to fight McGregor on a short notice at UFC 196.
The American produced an epic upset, submitting McGregor in the second round, giving him his first, and only, taste of defeat inside the famed Octagon.
A rematch was immediately ordered.
Diaz and McGregor once again fought at welterweight, with the Irishman redeeming his loss, eking out a majority decision in an instant classic.
Back-and-forth exchanges left fans in awe at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The then-UFC featherweight king repeatedly tagged Diaz, dropping him, who returned fire, landing his own brutal shots including his signature 'Stockton Slap'.

But, McGregor powered through, eventually securing the victory.
A few years removed from their incredible battle, it's now been acknowledged as the best fight inside the storied Octagon.
Diaz vs. McGregor pipped light-heavyweight title bout Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson.

The Swedish 'Mauler' gave then-205lbs champion a huge fright.
The challenger successfully landed a surprising takedown, while connecting on Jones' chin.
However, 'Bones' ultimately defended his title after mustering a masterful performance, nearly finishing the fight with a destructive spinning elbow.
Two legendary fights.
