Khabib Nurmagomedov And Conor McGregor Will Both Be On 'Fight Island' At The Same Time

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor will be in the same vicinity next month as the pair will both be on 'Fight Island' at the same time.

McGregor is making his long-awaited return to the Octagon and facing Dustin Poirier for the second time in the headline bout on UFC 257 in January.

But just months after announcing his retirement from MMA following his win over Justin Gaethje, lightweight champion Khabib will also be at Flash Forum in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

However 'The Eagle' isn't just turning up to watch two fighters he tapped out lock horns in a rematch, his cousin Umar Nurmagomedov is to make his UFC debut on the same card as McGregor.

After multiple cancellations, the 24-year-old, 12-0 in MMA, is slated to face Sergey Morozov in a bantamweight bout on the prelims

Khabib has confirmed he will indeed be in attendance.

He told Match TV: "Umar's debut has been postponed three times. His fight will take place on January 23rd in Abu Dhabi. Less than a month left. I hope that he still performs.

"Umar has long been a UFC-level fighter: he is 24 years old and ready for big challenges. I will be with him, help as much as I can, advise, fight with him myself, control the preparation process.

"So January 23rd is a big day for our team and our family."

Bitter rivals Khabib and McGregor have not crossed paths since all hell broke loose at the end of their UFC 229 bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC president Dana White might just have to increase the security presence but Khamzat Chimaev, the man who was planning to hunt down McGregor on 'Fight Island' is no longer competing.

UFC's rising star Chimaev had made a chilling warning to McGregor and made it no secret that he wishes to exact revenge on behalf of Khabib.

However, his UFC Fight Night main event with Brit Leon Edwards is off after the Russian-Swede was forced to withdraw.
