Jorge Masvidal has given his take on Dana White's purchase of a 'fight island' for upcoming UFC bouts.

Despite the UFC 249 event being postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, White is still pressing ahead with his unprecedented idea and is hopeful of getting it off the ground in a month.

Earlier this week the UFC president revealed he had secured an island where he would be "pumping out fights every week" on ESPN.

He also added that UFC will be providing planes to get fighters in and out of the island.

And BMF champion Masvidal is a huge fan of the plans, comparing it to the 1973 Bruce Lee film 'Enter the Dragon' - where Karate and Kung Fu fighters do battle on an island.

Masvidal old BT Sport: "It's crazy man sounds like a Bruce Lee movie, like Enter the Dragon or something. Like you're gonna go to this undisclosed location, fight numerous fighters and all of this craziness. I love it, man."

Although he advocates the idea, there is no word as to whether Masvidal fancies fighting in the unique environment. However, 'Gamebred' did reveal that he was close to fighting UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and predicts it will happen in the near future.

"There was a deal on the table, but when the full deal and the whole extent of it got brought through and how it was going to play out, the budget really wasn't there in a way for what we were asking," he added.

"The price tag that I put out there, they didn't wanna pay. This other guy, who knows if he was in or not, but my price wasn't met.

"And for the risk-to-reward factor, I wanted to get compensated and the compensation wasn't really there. We weren't too far off either, we can make it work in the future for a fact. I think in July, I'll be beheading this guy for the whole world to see."

Elsewhere in the welterweight division, Colby Covington, who has been involved in a war of words with Masvidal in the past, wants to square off against Tyron Woodley on the fight island.
