A blockbuster showdown between budding boxing star Jake Paul and UFC legend Conor McGregor has "just became more realistic."

That's according to the YouTuber who sensationally stopped Ben Askren in just one round in their main-event bout.

He wasted no time in recording his third professional boxing victory as he took out the former UFC contender in 1 minute and 59 seconds.

Paul now boasts victories over AnEsonGib, Nate Robinson and Askren with the 24-year-old eyeing a super-fight with McGregor.

What's more, he believes a fight against McGregor could now genuinely happen following his latest win.

He told MMA Junkie: "There's a lot of people. But honestly when it comes down to signing the contract, these guys duck.

"The [Conor] McGregor fight just became more realistic - like I've been saying."

Paul added: "I just wanna do big fights. I'm only going to do big fights. I want to challenge myself though at the same time.

"So, we'll see who the next big challenge is. I don't want to take some bullsh*t. I wanna challenge myself and I wanna do 3 million-4 million pay-per-view buys.

"So, who is gonna bring in those numbers?"

Despite Paul's profanity-filled video call-out of McGregor, the Irishman had some encouraging words for the 3-0 fighter - claiming if he's fighting then it can't make a mockery of the sport.

The former double UFC champion explained: "A lot of people are criticising [YouTube boxing] as maybe making a bit of a mockery of fighting. It's the predominant view among fans of combat sports. I want you to weigh in on that for me.

"If they are fighting well then it can't make a mockery of fighting. They're getting in and competing. I am not so much against it.

"What I will say though is the numbers that that show calculated was a Mike Tyson fight. You had an icon fighting as well as Roy Jones Jnr, two GOATs [greatest of all time] of combat sports.

"And then you had the YouTube kid and NBA star competing underneath that. So they done good business.

"Am I into those competitions myself? You know it's not the most high-level - if any level - at that stage.

"Obviously the Tyson vs Jones fight was very high level and very interesting to see what they're like in their older age. I thought they both fought amazingly.

"As they say, if it makes dollars, it makes sense. I know Dana and the UFC are not really into it, but I'm not so against it.

"I think if people are willing to get in and take the risk of making that walk, I'm certainly a viewer."

Of course, the 'Notorious' will make his second appearance of the year when he takes on Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on July 10.
