Poker player Dan Bilzerian's backing of Donald Cerrone in the UFC 246 main event against Conor McGregor cost him a crazy amount of money.

Prior to the fight, the 39-year old was snapped putting some serious dollar on his fellow American for the bout at the T-Mobile Arena.

He told fans he was putting some "pocket change" on 'Cowboy' picking up the win but unfortunately for him the UFC veteran was dealt with by McGregor in the first round.

It is believed that he lost over £1 million on the main event bout.

It all started with McGregor smashing Cerrone with a number of shoulder strikes in the clinch - breaking his nose and possibly even his cheekbone in the process.

A brutal head kick and ground and pound brought about the stoppage just 40 seconds in from referee Herb Dean, who had no choice but to intervene and award McGregor a historic victory after 15 months away from the Octagon.

'The Notorious' didn't even have a single mark on him, while his slicked-back hair didn't even move out of place whatsoever on the way to a TKO win.

It didn't seem as though the wager loss affected Bilzerian too much, however, judging by his tweet after the fight.

Unlike most of us when our weekend accumulators don't come in yet again, he'll probably make that money back in next to no time.

McGregor, meanwhile, estimated he would earn $80 million (£60 million) overall from his return fight and believes he will be a billionaire by the time he turns 35.
