Rose Namajunas is the new UFC women's strawweight champion after landing a huge first round knockout against China's first UFC champion Zhang Weili.

Namajunas was the slight underdog going into the fight with Weili but proved in quick time that you can never count her out.

'Thug' landed a perfect kick to the head and the defending champ went down, the American then got on top of her opponent and landed several hammer fists before the referee stopped the fight.

Weili initially looked annoyed at the decision, believing the fight was stopped early, but soon came to the realisation she was well beaten.

In 2017 Rose shocked the world when she won the strawweight title for the first time, defeating the previously undefeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

She stopped Joanna at UFC 217 in the first round and the defended the title against the Polish fighter several months later, this time winning by unanimous decision.

The 28-year-old then lost the title to Jessica Andrade, who lost Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 261, in May 2019.

Andrade then lost the title to Weili, whilst Rose won her rematch with Andrade, after the Chinese fighter defeated Joanna, in one of the greatest fights in UFC history, it set up the fight with 'Thug' Rose.

The American once again showed her incredible ability to win fights she's not expected to, with an incredible first round stoppage.

Who will be next for the first woman to reclaim a UFC title?
