Bantamweight Julija Stoliarenko collapsed twice on the scales, before being carried out of the weigh-in ahead of UFC Vegas 22.

The scary scenes occurred as the Lithuanian was trying to weigh in before her scheduled bout against Julia Avila on Saturday. But videos show a wobbly-legged Stoliarenko staggering back off the scales and falling, as onlookers rushed to pick her up.

Stoliarenko reportedly suffered a seizure and the UFC have said the bout has now been cancelled "due to weight-cutting issues".

The 27-year-old had one fall but apparently insisted she was fine as she collected herself on stage. Stoliarenko got up, tried to weigh-in again but collapsed and was unable to stand. She was then placed on a gurney by medical staff and taken from the scene.

Stoliarenko actually made the 136lb limit, weighing in at 135.5 pounds just before she collapsed. But understandably the fight will not be going ahead.

The deeply concerning video and images from the weigh-in are being used as evidence by many in the mixed martial arts community of the dangers of dehydration and serious weight cuts.

The UFC has been criticised in the past for having fewer weight divisions than seen in boxing, meaning fighters sometimes have to make drastic cuts unless they want to move up a division.

Avila, who now has no fight this weekend, had successfully made weight before Stoliarenko's collapse.

"Unfortunately, my fight has been cancelled," Avila said on Instagram. "My opponent fainted twice on the scales.

"I hope nothing but a speedy recovery for Julia Stoliarenko and prayers for her. Maybe we can meet up at a future date. But I will not be performing tomorrow night."

Let's all join Avila in wishing Stoliarenko a complete recovery from this worrying incident.
