Khabib Nurmagomedov has said he doesn't understand what is inside Tony Ferguson's head for their upcoming fight at UFC 249 in April 2020.

The UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has revealed he doesn't understand his future opponent, Tony Ferguson ahead of their fight at UFC 249 in April 2020.

Khabib and Ferguson have already had a potential bout between the two cancelled four times in the past, and many fans are still doubting their fight at UFC 249 due to the previous cancellations.

The fifth time may be the charm. Nurmagomedov and Ferguson are scheduled to fight each other in New York in April. Ahead of their blockbuster showdown, the UFC's 155lb champion outlined to RT Sport just how momentous this fight will be for the weight class.

"This is a very important fight for UFC, for fans, for me, for Tony," Nurmagomedov said. "That's why we signed this agreement. I hope finally we're going to fight in April."

The Lightweight Champion also said that his rivalry with Ferguson is noway near on the same level as his previous one with Conor McGregor, but still sees Ferguson as a big rival as his.

"I don't have nothing personal with him, you know?" Khabib said.

"Tony is a great fighter. Honestly, I don't like him personally. I don't understand his mind, what is inside his head but I don't need this. I don't need this. I'm going to focus on the fight. When the cage closes I'm going to do my job like always."
