Dana White has responded after Conor McGregor made a bold request to the UFC after losing to Max Holloway at UFC 329.
After five years away from the Octagon, McGregor’s return turned into a nightmare as he sustained a knee injury just 69 seconds into his comeback.
The former two-weight champion started fast and attempted a high kick but missed before falling to the canvas. After getting to his feet, he began to hobble before referee Mike Beltran stepped in, handing Holloway a technical knockout victory.
Speaking at a press conference after the fight, White suggested McGregor had “blown [his] ACL [anterior cruciate ligament]”, explaining: “I’m no doctor, but that’s what I figured when I saw it, and the doctors think the same thing, too.”

McGregor has since confirmed that he is awaiting the results of a scan ahead of likely having surgery on the injury.

On Thursday (July 16), the former two-weight UFC champion also requested the result be overturned and declared a no contest, while also calling for all bets to be returned.
The following day, McGregor took to social media again, this time engaging with fans who asked him several questions.
One fan asked: “Would you like your last fight to be vs [Michael] Chandler or [Dustin Poirier]? If not, is there anyone else? Also heal up well and let us know about the extent of the injury when you can.”
McGregor then replied: “It has to be Holloway.”
Dana White responds to Conor McGregor UFC request
UFC president White has since responded to McGregor’s request, insisting that he hasn’t thought about the Irishman’s future.
“Not even thinking about it,” White said on Spinnin Backfist when pressed on McGregor’s request.
“Conor still has to have knee surgery and go through everything he’s going to have to go through. I understand he’s very unhappy with the way shit played out, but you’re a human being, you’re older, you haven’t fought in five years and Father Time is undefeated.
“So who the f*ck knows what’s going to happen with Max over the next year and what’s going to happen with Conor over the next year?”
If McGregor has torn his ACL, he will likely be sidelined for around a year, although this has yet to be confirmed. White made clear that he will not make any plans for the fighter’s future until he has fully recovered.
“I don’t even think about that type of stuff until it becomes a reality,” White added.
“When Conor reaches out and says, ‘I finished all my physical therapy, I’m in a good place, they told me I can train full time now,’ we’ll start thinking about what’s next.”
McGregor has one fight left on his current UFC deal.
When asked about McGregor’s future, White exclaimed: “I’m not even thinking about any of that stuff. It’s so long and so far away, it doesn’t matter.”
