The UFC have officially confirmed that Conor McGregor will return to the octagon for a stacked card on July 11.

After months of speculation the news that former two-weight UFC champion McGregor is back has finally been officially confirmed.

The Irishman last broke his leg during his last outing as he lost for the second consecutive time to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 nearly five years ago in July 2021.

Following the loss, questions were raised about McGregor's future in the sport, with many expecting him to retire from fighting for good.

However, it was recently revealed that the UFC were planning for him to return to the octagon as the headliner for the iconic international fight week card set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And now, it's been officially confirmed that McGregor will face former foe Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 with Britain's Paddy Pimblett, Lone’er Kavanaugh and Luke Riley all set to feature on the undercard.

Despite earlier reports that McGregor's team were trying to negotiate for the fight to break tradition and only have three rounds, it has been confirmed that the bout with Holloway will be a five round fight in the welterweight division.

Announcing the fight with a pun teasing his opponent, Holloway wrote on X: "July 11 Return of the MAX."

To which McGregor, in typical fashion, replied: "I’m gonna son you, child. Again."

Later adding: "You’re gonna put respect on my mother******* name."

The fight will be the second time that the pair have met in the octagon after McGregor defeated Holloway in a three-round decision in Boston back in a featherweight bout in August 2013.

Conor McGregor v Max Holloway full undercard revealed:

  • Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway (No. 4 ranked lightweight) — Welterweight
  • Benoit Saint Denis (5) vs Paddy Pimblett (6) — Lightweight
  • Cory Sandhagen (4) vs Mario Bautista (8) — Bantamweight
  • Brandon Royval (4) vs Lone’er Kavanaugh (6) — Flyweight
  • Gable Steveson vs Elisha Ellison — Heavyweight

Prelims

  • Robert Whittaker (No. 10 ranked middleweight) vs Nikita Krylov (13) — Light Heavyweight
  • Luke Riley vs Kai Kamaka III — Featherweight
  • Damian Pinas vs Cesar Almeida — Middleweight
  • Cody Garbrandt vs Adrian Yanez — Bantamweight
  • Tracy Cortez (8) vs Wang Cong (12) — Women’s Flyweight
  • Ode’ Osbourne vs Cody Durden — Flyweight

Max Holloway opens as heavy favourite for Conor McGregor comeback fight

Given the fact that McGregor has been out of action for five years while Holloway has remained active, it comes as no surprise that the Irishman is a heavy underdog for their meeting in July.

In the time since McGregor's second loss to Poirier, Holloway has fought eight times during a run that has seen him challenge for and win titles.

Holloway won five of his eight fights in this time with his only losses coming against three current champions in Alexander Volkanovski (featherweight champion), Ilia Topuria (lightweight champion) and Charles Oliveira (BMF champion)

Therefore, the Hawaiian is currently a 2/9 favourite with most bookies while McGregor is a 3/1 underdog.
