World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has made an announcement seemingly giving a clue about his fitness ahead of Wimbledon.
Sinner, 24, is the defending Wimbledon champion and comes into the 2026 tournament as a heavy favourite due to the absence of two-time champion and world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard picked up a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open in April and subsequently missed the second major of 2026, the French Open.
Many expected Sinner to win Roland Garros, but the Italian struggled with severe cramping as he lost to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the Paris heat during the second round.
Sinner, who had earlier won clay-court tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome, explained how he felt “dizzy” and nauseous during the contest after repeatedly calling for his trainer while also requesting an off-court medical time-out.

In a post-match press conference, he revealed: “I felt unwell, my head was spinning, and I had no more energy. Nothing was coming out.
“I tried to serve for the match, but I didn’t have much left.
“I let the fourth set go, then the first game of the fifth was tough, I couldn’t hold on anymore, and everything started going downhill.
“I felt it this morning. I didn’t sleep very well and was already struggling a bit when I woke up.”

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev went on to win the tournament, claiming his first major in the process.
Since the French Open, Sinner has undergone medical testing in Turin and Milan to determine why he has not been in the best of health.
While the results of those tests remain unclear, Sinner has announced that he will return to the court before Wimbledon, performing a U-turn on his previous plans.
Sinner was not expected to take part in any grass-court events ahead of the third major of the season, having already confirmed he would not play at the Halle Open.
Instead of taking a four-week break, he will now cut his hiatus down to three weeks and take part in the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic at the Hurlingham Club in London between June 23 and 27.
British No. 1 Cameron Norrie and French Open finalist Flavio Cobolli will also take part in the event.
Wimbledon gets underway on June 29 and will run until July 12.
Andre Agassi’s brutal criticism of Jannik Sinner
Eight-time major winner Andre Agassi was less than sympathetic towards Sinner when discussing his shock French Open exit earlier in June with the American saying there is “no excuse” for the Italian's fitness woes.
“Sinner going out was huge, and I don’t know if you called him out on that enough,” Agassi told TNT Sports.
“I had a body clock of about four hours when I played, and if you gave me hot conditions, it dropped to like, three-45, three-50, it didn’t change a lot.
“But to go from him playing five and a half hours last year in the finals and then having the heat tap him in an hour 45... there’s a difference between being fit and being prepared.
“I have to point at a flaw in that kind of preparation, because there’s something you can do about that. It’s not that that dude doesn’t work hard, that he’s not fit. He was one game away [from reaching the third round] and the whole draw opened up. We all thought we’d see him here, maybe not even losing a set.”
