World number one Jannik Sinner has been awarded additional ranking points this week - despite not playing a match.
Sinner won his sixth consecutive ATP 1000 event at the Italian Open on Sunday, defeating Casper Ruud in the final.
There was controversy surrounding his semi-final win over Daniil Medvedev, which was held over two days on Friday and Saturday due to a rain delay.
Shortly before the match was delayed on Friday night, with Sinner leading 4-2 in the third and final set, Medvedev had complained to the on-court umpire that the Italian was receiving medical treatment for cramps.

Players are not permitted to ask for medical timeouts for the sole purpose of treating cramps, though can receive treatment during time allotted for changeovers or set breaks.
Sinner had, however, been suffering from a thigh problem earlier in the match and, while Medvedev used his post-match press conference to call for a rule change, said he did not know exactly what his opponent was receiving treatment for.

There was no suggestion that Sinner broke any regulations, and he enters the upcoming French Open looking to win at Roland Garros for the first time in his career.
Sinner benefits from unusual ATP rule ahead of French Open
Ahead of the tournament, he has received additional ranking points due to an unusual quirk of the ATP Tour's system.
Last May, Sinner pulled out of the Hamburg Open after losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the French Open.
As a result of his late withdrawal, he received a 50-point penalty that stayed on his record that stayed on his record for a full year.
With the penalty having now expired, Sinner has been given the 50 points back on his record.
As per ATP regulations, his worst result from 2025 - a round of 16 defeat at the Halle Open, which earned him 50 ranking points - is rescinded from his overall tally.
Therefore, the Italian has essentially got those points back, further extending his advantage to Alcaraz at the top of the rankings.
Alcaraz has already pulled out of the French Open and Wimbledon later this year due to a wrist injury, meaning Sinner has ample opportunity to pull further ahead.
He will drop back the additional 50 points he has earned next month, however, as he has already decided not to participate in this year's Halle Open.
