Carlos Alcaraz has revealed how he plans to spend part of his prize money for winning the 2025 US Open.

The 22-year-old won his sixth Grand Slam title on Sunday night, defeating Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The match was repeatedly delayed due to security provisions for US President Donald Trump, who attended the final in person.

Once the action did get underway - and with thousands of people still waiting to get into the arena - Alcaraz produced some superb tennis, easily capturing the first set.

Sinner hit back in the second, but Alcaraz dominated the third and was one game away from taking it 6-0.

The fourth and final set was more closely contested, but the Spaniard successfully served out for the match and his second Grand Slam title of the 2025 season.

As a result of his success, Alcaraz took home a staggering US Open record amount of $5 million in prize money, though he will lose 38.89 per cent of that through tax due to not being a US resident.

Speaking to ESPN, he revealed plans to spend a small amount of his prize money - on two different tattoos.

The Spaniard has previously stated that he always gets a small tattoo after every Grand Slam win, but explained why he wants to get two this time around.

"I said it's going to be the first one, the first major," he began. "But seeing that first one after the one I won in 2022, where I just tattooed the date, I have to do something.

"Probably I'm going to do two things, because I had a bet at the beginning of the tournaments. The Brooklyn Bridge, I think, and the Statue of Liberty. I'm going to do both.

"This one [winning the US Open again] is special - I have to get it tattooed twice. I don't know where [it is going to be], I'll have to think about it. New York is going to get two."

He is also set to purchase a pair of new sneakers.

In May, he told two-time women's Grand Slam winner, turned Tennis Channel pundit, Garbine Muguruza: "Not after every big win, but for example at the Grand Slams, if I reach the semi-finals, I like to buy myself a new pair of sneakers. If I feel like I had a good season, at the end of the year I'll buy myself a nice watch."
