Nick Kyrgios Breaks Wimbledon’s Strict Dress Code Again By Wearing Red Hat

The move did not go unnoticed on social media.

Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios has broken Wimbledon's strict dress code again, only days after being reprimanded for flouting the tournament's rules.

The Canberra born sports star donned the red cap straight after his 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 defeat to retaining champion Novak Djokovic on Monday.

Famously, Wimbledon requires all players to wear all white clothing when on the court.

The move did not go unnoticed on social media.

One social media user said: "Nick Kyrgios immediately defying Wimbledon's all white dress code with red hat."

A second added: "A rebel to the end. Nick Kyrgios has been told not to wear his red hat on Centre Court. He simply doesn’t care."

Another person shared a Simpsons meme to predict the reaction of sports reporters after seeing the red cap.

While wearing his red hat, Kyrgios addressed the crowd to praise now seven-time men's singles Wimbledon champion Djokovic.

"He's a bit of a god," Kyrgios told the crowd.

The Aussie bad boy of tennis went on to shower praise on the Serbian sports star and his team.

"First of all, I want to congratulate Novak and your team," the 27-year-old said.

"Of course, you have won this championship. I don't even know how many times anymore."

Kyrgios also praised Wimbledon staff for putting up with his often-prickly temper.

"Then obviously to all the ball kids, umpires. You and I have a very tough relationship at times but I thought I would thank you for putting up with it," Kyrgios said.

"Then the crowd. It has been an amazing couple of weeks for me personally."

The grand slam final marks the second time that the Aussie tennis star has ignored Wimbledon's strict dress code.

Last week he had a fiery exchange with a reporter who called him out for wearing a pair of bright red Air Jordans and a red baseball cap to and from the court.

Broaching the subject with the player, a reporter from the Daily Express read the rules back to him.

He said: "We all know the Wimbledon dress code rules are very strict; 'competitors must be dressed in suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely white, and this applies from the point at which the player enters the court'.

"Why then would you walk on to centre court with bright red trainers on and do an interview in a red cap?"

Not missing a beat, Kyrgios replied "Because I do what I want."

Usually, you might expect that to be that, but the journalist wasn't happy with the response, asking: "So you're above the rules?"

"No," replied the world number 40. "I'm not above the rules. I just like wearing my Jordans."
