Aryna Sabalenka quickly apologised to fellow US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz after making an error on live TV.
Sabalenka defeated number eight seed Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6 in the women's singles final on Saturday night to retain the trophy she won in 2024.
Jannik Sinner was looking to do likewise against Alcaraz in the men's final, but the Spaniard produced one of the finest displays of his career to win 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday.

Both new champions were on media duty across Monday morning - with their first appearance being on ESPN's 'Today Show' at around 9am.
Sabalenka stated: "I had a TikTok to do with Jannik...", before placing her hand on Alcaraz's shoulder.
The Spaniard laughed and jokingly got up to leave the stage, before returning to his seat.
"Carlos!" Sabalenka corrected herself. "I'm so sorry. Never mind, no-one saw me!"

Alcaraz said: "It's okay - it's 9 in the morning. Don't worry, it's all good, it's all good."
"The worst failure I've ever had in my life," Sabalenka replied, before turning back towards her counterpart. "So, Jannik..."
Sabalenka and Sinner did the same media rounds last year when they both won the Australian and US Open titles.

But the Italian did not join his women's counterpart on Monday, having narrowly missed out on his third Grand Slam title of the season.
Sinner won the Australian Open and Wimbledon titles, but Alcaraz was simply too good on the night in New York.
Speaking after the final, the 25-year-old commented: "Carlos and the whole team, you're doing amazing - congrats.
"A lot of hard work behind this performance today. You were better than me. So enjoy this - it's a great moment.
"It has been an incredible season, a lot of big stages and matches we've played throughout this season. I tried my best today, I couldn't do more. Thank you for the support.
