Arthur Fery receives rare Wimbledon privilege other tennis players don't get after Grigor Dimitrov win

After becoming a surprise home hero, Arthur Fery has become a British icon after reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, and is already being handsomely rewarded.

With injuries to Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper, the hopes of having a home winner at Wimbledon appeared to be dashed. These home crowd dreams were dampened even further with first-round defeats for the likes of Cameron Norrie, and by the second round, all Brits had been eliminated or had pulled out.

The sad exits saw Wimbledon's opening fixtures labeled as the 'worst day this century' as the British players still managed to pocket £80,000 each.

That is, except for 23-year-old wildcard Arthur Fery, ranked number 114 in the world.

Having never progressed past the second round of a Grand Slam before, Fery has come from behind in every match so far to earn a wildly unexpected quarter-final matchup against number nine seed Flavio Cobolli.

The young man is steeped in Tennis history, though, and is a familiar figure at the British Grand Slam. Growing up within walking distance of the All England Club, he spent his childhood summers at Wimbledon with his ex-pro mother and millionaire father.

Now, Fery is marking out his own career, and he has finally unlocked a Wimbledon privilege reserved for very exclusive company after joining the Last 8 Club.

Arthur Fery receives 'Last 8 Club' privileges at Wimbledon

A tradition started in 1986, the Last 8 Club is strictly reserved for any Tennis star who has reached the quarter-final stage of Wimbledon.

These select few stars all get some welcome bonuses around the event and future instalments, with a range of perks fit for London's finest.

The privileges include a lifetime free entry to Wimbledon's grounds whenever they want, free tickets (including those on centre court and court one), entry to a designated hospitality suite, an annual Last 8 Supper Party, Club areas with happy hour drinks and nibbles during tournament time, huge discounts on the best London hotels, and two tickets to a London show, all of which come with access for a plus one.

Having qualified for the quarters, Fery now joins recent success story Emma Raducanu in the Club, becoming only the sixth British man to join.

Only Cameron Norrie, Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Greg Rusedski, and Roger Taylor can hold that privilege, although having become the first Wildcard to do it, Fery's achievement is arguably the best in the Club. Raducanu, Johana Knota, Heather Watson, Laura Robson, and Elena Baltacha are also Last 8 representatives from the UK.

Fery will undoubtedly marvel at those privileges later in his career, as, for now, he will be solely focused on his next match on Wednesday, July 8.
