Snooker Star Punches Wall Twice And Quits Match Mid-Frame In Huge Meltdown

He made a major blunder during his game.

Stephen Maguire punched a wall as he had a huge meltdown during his defeat to Gao Yang.

Maguire faced China's Yang in a qualifying match for the German Masters.

However, he succumbed to Yang, who secured a narrow 5-4 victory.

In the final frame, with the game in the balance at 4-4, Maguire was 63-35 down though looked set to clean up to win the match.

He potted the last red before moving onto the black.

Maguire had a clear opening on the ball, with many expecting him to wipe out the colours.

He subsequently pocketed the black but used too much power, sinking the cue ball in the process.

The 44-year-old recognised his major blunder as he realised he had effectively lost the tie.

Maguire then conceded the frame to his opponent, handing Yang the victory.

The two snooker players shook hands following the result, but Maguire's frustrations boiled over moments later.

As he made his way back to the locker room, the Scot threw two punches at a nearby wall in an explosive outburst.

It's not the first time Maguire has had his emotions get the better of him as he delivered a similar outburst when he crashed out of the UK Championship in November after missing a red at a crucial point against Judd Trump.

"I’m p**sed off. I’m p**sed off with the table. It cost me. It cost me the frame at 3-3 and I think it cost me the match so I’m not very happy," he said at the time.

"He was there for the taking. I was the better player. I should have won. When you play an easy shot into the middle and the white hits the slate and takes off, I nearly missed the red completely, what can you do?

"It’s supposed to be the second biggest tournament in the world. How can you not get the table up to scratch? It’s not a hard job. The table played well apart from that slate, the bags were tight for both of us.

"That match was there for the winning at that point, it was a simple shot. Judd does not know what day it was, you could have asked him and he wouldn’t have known. Through no fault of my own, I’m out of the tournament."
