Ireland are currently leading England 22-7 in their Six Nations clash at Twickenham this Saturday afternoon.

Andy Farrell’s team have executed their game plan perfectly, as the crowd sit shellshocked as they watch England’s title hopes disappear.

Just two weeks ago there was talk that this England team could be heading to Paris for a Grand Slam showdown against France, as they had just won their 12th game in a row.

However, what a difference two weeks make, as defeat to Scotland raised some questions before Ireland put Steve Borthwick’s side to the sword in Twickenham.

England have not got going at all, but fans on social media have pinpointed one man who has had a particularly bad game and is receiving significant blame for the failure of Borthwick's game plan.

George Ford has struggled off the boot and in the tackle to this point, and this has been well pronounced by fans on social media.

One fan wrote: “This is an awful George Ford performance and could easily be his final England game as things stand.”

Another said: “George Ford is having an absolute mare at the moment!”

A few fans were in agreement about the strengths of Ford, believing he is a great player to have against sides that are not the same standard or considered better than England, but believe he is not good enough at this level.

One said: “George Ford is great at dictating games against lower-level teams. Against top teams, he’s a liability.”

Ford finally landed a penalty kick to earn a lineout close to the Ireland line and the fans let their feelings known about his first half performance.

Borthwick would make a tactical change in the first half as he aimed to change proceedings and give England a chance of staging a comeback, but it was not Ford who was withdrawn but his Sale Sharks teammate Luke Cowan-Dickie.

Fans may have been in agreement with this decision, as one wrote: “Luke Cowan-Dickie’s throwing and George Ford’s kicking are killing us.”

England have a mountain to climb in the second half to find a win, and there will be those fans interested to see how long Ford remains at flyhalf in this game after he played a crucial part in their try before adding the conversion.
