St George Dragons have found themselves embroiled in some off-field drama after reports of a ‘heated exchange’ between two players following a night out.

The Sydney Morning Herald revealed that winger Mikaele Ravalawa and new recruit Zane Musgrove needed to be separated in the early hours of Sunday (February 19) morning.

The teammates were woken by the incident which reportedly occurred at 6 am in the morning, with club staff having to separate the pair.

The Dragons insist no punches were thrown.

However, News Corp reports that the club will be looking to reprimand the two players as the behaviour does not meet their standards.

The players were permitted to go out and have a drink that night due to the turnaround between their pre-season and their first game of the season - which comes in round two due to a bye.

That was of course, as long as the players returned to their hotel at a reasonable time.

However, some returned to the Winning Post Motor Inn in Mudgee and continued drinking into the early hours of the morning.

The Dragons released a statement on the incident, however, refused to delve into the details of the altercation.

The statement read: “The Dragons are aware of a verbal argument that took place between two players at the team hotel on Sunday morning.

"The club regards this behaviour as unacceptable and will now determine whether any disciplinary action is warranted.

"The club will make no further comment at this time."

The St George side fell to the Rabbitohs in Mudgee as the South Sydney team claimed back the Charity Shield.

A poor first-half display from the Dragons let the Rabbitohs' big guns steal as they led the scoreboard 26-0.

The South Sydney team took their foot off the gas toward the end of the game as their stars were taken off to rest, allowing St George to regain some ground.

But ultimately they fell short.

They’ll be hoping for a better result when they take on the Gold Coast Titans in round two of the NRL and their first game of the season.
