Cameron Munster showed true grit to return to the field in the first game of the NRL season after suffering a compound fracture to his finger.
Melbourne Storm thought they had suffered the worst possible start to the NRL season with star player Cameron Munster forced off injured.
The player has been touted to star for the Melbourne side this season, but the start to his 2023 may have taken a hiccup.
The halfback went off with a suspected compound fracture to his ring finger, with blood seen coming from the injury.

Shortly after he left the field the Eels capitalised to score the first try of the NRL season through Will Penisini.
Commentators speculated whether Munster would return, and even went as far as wondering whether he'd be out for the season.
However, Melbourne staff soon confirmed that they had managed to treat the injury to allow for Munster to return to the field in the second half.
A compound fracture usually requires surgery with at least 3-4 weeks of recovery, however, it seems as though Musnter’s injury isn’t as severe.
A tense moment for Melbourne fans as they awaited their star man to return.
