Punter offered 'the greatest cash out of all time' in bet that could see them win over £500,000

The punter is waiting on just one result.

A punter is just one result away from pocketing an eye-watering amount of money.

Usually, when sports fans place a bet, it is nothing more than a bit of fun that adds to their chosen event.

But sometimes, experienced betters may place a bet as they have a ‘tip’ or have somehow worked out how or why a certain action could happen during a match.

For others, they place bets for all kinds of weird and wonderful reasons, including the names of teams or the colour of their kit.

But, very rarely, luck is on one’s side, and that is exactly what has happened to a lucky punter.

Four results were included in the bet in question.

First, golfer Scottie Scheffler did the business by winning the 2024 edition of the Masters at Augusta.

The punter had backed the FLA Panthers to win the 2023-24 NHL Championship, which concluded on June 24, 2024. With those two results in the bag but two still to go, the punter had a mere glimmer of hope.

Then, In July 2024, Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz secured the Wimbledon crown with an emphatic victory over Novak Djokovic. As a result, the cash-out value skyrocketed.

Twitter account BR_Betting revealed how the punter was just one result away from pocketing a tidy $742,500 (£619,000), with the cash-out value currently sitting at a whopping total of $329,432.17 (£254,000).

But the drama does not stop quite yet, the punter has backed the New York Yankees to win the 2024 World Series, which will commence on October 26, with the final result set to be decided on November 4 following seven head-to-head games with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This means the punter will have around two weeks to mull over the decision of whether to stick with the bet if the final lasts seven games – if a team take an unassailable lead (4-0 out of seven games, for example), they are crowned champions.

So, you may be thinking about what you would do in this situation if you were lucky enough to find yourself in it. It would be worth checking the odds if you were deciding whether to risk missing out on over £619,000.

Unfortunately for the punter, the Yankees are underdogs for their clashes against the Dodgers. The New York-based side are at 11/10 odds, while the LA team are at 11/13 odds, according to Oddschecker.
