A nation were stripped of hosting the Olympics with the competition being reassigned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) before it was cancelled.
A strenuous process is carried out before determining who gets to stage the Olympics.
Paris, France, hosted the 2024 Summer Games, with Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in north Italy hosting this year's Winter Games.
Team USA are set to send over a huge team, with 237 athletes in line to compete across 16 disciplines.
USA will be represented at the Winter Olympics despite calls for them to be banned over the recent capture of Nicolas Maduro.
Donald Trump launched a military intervention in Venezuela earlier this month, capturing the country's president and his wife.
Russia were banned by the IOC following the country's invasion of Ukraine, but the governing body will not take action against USA.

"The ability to bring athletes together, no matter where they come from, is fundamental to the future of values-based, truly global sport, which can give hope to the world.
"For this reason, the IOC cannot involve itself directly in political matters or conflicts between countries, as these fall outside our remit. This is the realm of politics."
Once the Winter Olympics is in the books, USA will host the Summer Games in 2028, with Los Angeles winning the bidding process.
LA will only lose their hosting duties if something extraordinary happens.
That was the case in 1940 when the Summer Games were due to be held in Tokyo, Japan, until they had to withdraw.

It was later reassigned to Helsinki, Finland, following the outbreak of the Second-Sino Japanese War in 1937.
But the 1940 Olympics was ultimately cancelled because of World War II alongside the 1940 Winter Olympics.
Helsinki would eventually land the Summers Games in 1952, while Tokyo would also later host the 1964 and 2020 Summer Games, with the latter postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19.
