WATCH: Emotional Conor McGregor Will Change The Way You Think Of Him
We don't often see an emotional Conor McGregor outside of the cage, but this video ahead of his then-biggest fight of his career perfectly captures his sensitive side.
Back in 2015, McGregor was gearing up for his first crack at UFC gold. After making his debut in 2013, McGregor reeled off five consecutive wins to earn his first title shot.
But it was a turbulent build-up.
Following an unprecedented promotion, which included a mammoth world press tour, McGregor's original UFC 189 opponent, Jose Aldo, pulled out citing an injury.
As a result, Chad Mendes was drafted in. McGregor's infamous weight cut to 145lbs coupled with the late switch of opponent proved his bullet proof mentality.
Though he had to hold back the tears when detailing a story about a young Irish lad who was suffering from an illness before tragically passing away.
Heartbreaking. McGregor revealing a side we don't often see.
McGregor would eventually be crowned UFC interim-featherweight champion after beating Mendes, which followed with a meeting against then title-holder Jose Aldo.
In 13-seconds Aldo was dethroned as McGregor fulfilled his prophecy by becoming undisputed UFC champion.
A couple of fights with Nate Diaz then saw the Irishman challenge for the UFC lightweight title. McGregor would emulate his feat in his previous banner, Cage Warriors, by bagging two belts.

In the process making UFC history by holding two titles, simultaneously. And just the third to win two titles in two divisions following in the foot-steps on BJ Penn and Randy Couture.
The biggest name in MMA now sets his sights on boxing Floyd Mayweather in a fight being dubbed as a 'Billion Dollar Fight.'
McGregor has officially signed his contract to compete against the undefeated-boxer as UFC president Dana White now negotiates with Team Mayweather in bid to get the deal across the line.
Solid work today. Sign your end Floyd or you are just a mouth.
