The dress Nike have designed for female competitors at this year's Wimbledon Championships has caused a stir, with Judy Murray voicing her disapproval of the item which some have compared to a 'baby doll nightie'.
The dress, worn by British player Katie Swann, Germany's Annika Beck and the Czech Republic's Lucie Safarova, has been criticised for being too revealing and Murray, mother of British number one and former Wimbledon champion Andy, has called for the outfit to be redesigned in order for players to feel comfortable competing in it.

"The important thing for any clothing manufacturer who is sponsoring top players is to make sure that the clothing is functional for the job in hand.
"So I'm sure that Nike will be taking steps to address it. Because anything that is not functional proves distracting to the players and that's not in anybody's interests.
"I know from experience of watching the boys, you have to get the clothing right, the footwear right because these are partly the tools of your trade so it has to be functional for what it is that you need to do."

The All England Lawn Tennis Club dress code for players states that "common standards of decency are required at all times". German star Sabine Lisicki has refused to wear the outfit, which retails at £75, while Serena Williams, who is also sponsored by Nike, has an alternative design specially made for her.
