A member of Canada's Winter Olympics team has gone viral for how he reacted to being given an extra momento alongside his silver medal.

On Sunday, the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games came to an end, with the final gold medal event being the men's ice hockey.

Team USA were taking on rivals Canada at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.

It was a tight affair as overtime was needed to decide the outcome, with Team USA's Jack Hughes scoring the winner to seal a 2-1 win, securing the Americans' first ice hockey gold medal in 46 years.

Team USA goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck produced a brilliant performance to keep the Canadians out.

After the match, the medal ceremony took place, with Canadian star Nathan Mackinnon going viral.

As he was receiving his silver medal, Mackinnon was also handed a stuffed toy, which is a small version of the mascot, a white stoat named Tina.

Mackinnon looked rather unimpressed as he stared at the toy; he then appeared to shake his head slightly in disapproval.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the video of Mackinnon has since gone viral across different social media platforms.

Speaking after the match, Team USA hero Hughes said: "This is all about our country right now.

"I'm so proud to be American. I love my country, I love my teammates."

He continued: "That's American hockey right there. That's a great Canadian team but this means so much. We are such a team.

Vice president JD Vance also offered his congratulations on social media.

He wrote: "Heart full of pride for his country and a few front teeth gone missing. That’s American hockey right there.

"Congratulations to Jack and everyone on Team USA for bringing home the gold."

Which country won the most gold medals at the Winter Games?

After claiming the final gold medal of the Milan Cortina Games, Team USA finished in second place, winning 12 golds, 12 silvers and nine bronzes.

They were behind Norway, who secured an impressive record of 18 golds, 12 silvers and 11 bronzes.

Meanwhile, Team GB were 15th, winning three golds, one silver and one bronze.

The next edition of the Winter Olympic Games will take place in 2030, with the French Alps hosting.
