One participant in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics has left fans in disbelief.

On Friday night, ahead of the official start of the 2024 Olympic Games, the opening ceremony took place in the French capital of Paris.

Athletes from each partaking country were paraded along the River Seine whilst the likes of Lady Gaga and Aya Nakamura performed.

One participant left fans in disbelief after he was seen shaking his arms vigorously.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Lmfaoooo wtf is he doing.”

Another tweeted: “Me trying to get a sports bra off.”

A third fan added: “Dunno what the f**k’s happening here. Give this guy a raise.”

Someone else wrote: “Nice arm workout.”

A fifth commented: “It is so funny.”

Legendary singer Celine Dion is also set to perform during the ceremony.

Ahead of the event, French President Emmanuel Macron said: “Apparently she has arrived in Paris, it's great! I would be immensely happy if she could be at this opening ceremony, like all our compatriots.

“I will not reveal anything, what [opening ceremony director] Thomas Jolly and all his teams have prepared. There is also a surprise.”

He added: “I am not responsible for his schedule.”

Team GB will head into the Olympics with medal hopes across a range of different sports.

In Tennis, the likes of Andy Murray, Jack Draper and Katie Boulter will hope to bring some medals back. Meanwhile, Tom Daley heads into the diving event as the defending champion having won the gold medal in Tokyo in the men’s synchronised 10-metre platform.

On the Athletics track, Dina Asher-Smith and Katrina Johnson-Thompson have the chance to do well in their respective events.

During the opening ceremony, Daley and rower Helen Glover were flag bearers for Great Britain.

Speaking about the honour, Daley said: “I was sworn to secrecy, I was told two days ago. The first person I called was my husband Lance, because I wanted to tell him.

“It has been really tough, we moved to America and then I decided I wanted to go back to training, and it has been hard with the travel.”
